Rationale

Digital technology has created many possibilities for people to communicate online. Social media and live video platforms are developing more and more colourful ways of interacting online, allowing people from all over the world to sit together in a room to chat and have fun, bringing them closer to each other in virtual space. However, prolonged indulgence in these dazzling online activities can have an impact on building good relationships in the real world.

Mental health is an issue of great concern in today's society. Especially teenagers who are not yet mentally mature are often unaware of psychological problems. Every year in China, there are cases of students committing suicide because of psychological problems. When investigators ask parents and teachers and classmates about the situation, they feel overwhelmed. The lack of timely attention to the student's psychological condition is a major cause of such incidents. This phenomenon is often due to a lack of adequate communication and emotional expression between parents and children. Some parents lack attention to their children because of their busy schedules, while the children, lacking company and someone to talk to, become addicted to the colourful world of the Internet and gradually close themselves off. Eventually, the gap between them becomes deeper and deeper, and many negative emotions arise.

Children have vague emotional feelings but are unable to identify them clearly, have difficulty expressing them verbally, or may express them in inappropriate and incomprehensible ways. Such difficulties can make them feel anxious and frustrated, leave their families feeling confused and unable to give them timely support and help, and affect their social communication.

A positive family emotional climate is vital to the mental health of children. Conversely, excessive parental control over children, frequent anger and the transmission of negative emotions can lead to problems in the development of emotional control in children.
